Issues

• Staff generally low-skilled in Cad and needing training in new methods.

Actions

• Resolved the needs of Directors, IT, and staff by conducting meetings and negotiating priorities and objectives between heads of departments, to reduce the need for retraining staff across projects, and to allow information to be shared across disciplines.

• Devised flexible and agile Cad systems to meet international and British standards to enable our company to take the lead in setting standards for local architects on international collaborations, and to adapt standards as local regulations demanded.

• Engaged with teams as an active member on design to test new systems, to analyse working practices and re-educate on specific issues, and to identify potential tools to assist operators.

• Coded in LiSP and VBNet to automate processes for staff and assure project standards.

• Produced supporting manuals, library of online training videos, a feedback system for training and CPD (Continual Professional Development) sessions to retrain 80 staff.

• Led retraining programmes, coached ‘champions’ to specialise in parts of the system, coached others in teaching, and fostered communities of practise to perpetuate the retraining.

• Worked with IT to provide ‘in-house twitter’ to allow team members and directors to know all team actions without disrupting members, and to log true time expenditure on specific activities.

• Assessed all operator workplaces to meet British safety requirements to improve operator comfort and productivity, and to avoid possible litigation against the company.

Responsibilities

• Strategised and led team in salvage of Cad drawings to establish standards and to eliminate problems.
